Show Transcript good morning and welcome to another edition of the Falcon flyby I'm Acting Superintendent Pat Breen I have with me Troy MO and Ryan snap Troy is our maintenance director here at Constantine he's also a veteran and we are here to talk about Veterans Day and what we do here at Constantine Public Schools uh both these gentlemen have played a role in this event over the last 4 or 5 years uh this morning we had our veterans Day breakfast and we had members of the community with us today so so Troy over the past few years you've been uh a big part of this event and uh you've helped uh either speak or get people here and talk about this so what's this event mean to you and why do you think it's important uh that we honor our veterans on this day but um we started this this will be going into our fifth year now and um it's been a great event to bring the community together and also to recognize a lot of the students come here with their parents their grandparents um spouses it's become not just a veteran family it's become a Constantine family event up here and as a veteran it's just nice to be recognized and just think there's not a lot of prompting circumstance to it it's just genuine thank you to communicate together you can meet old acquaintances make new acquaintances so it's just been a really good family event for Constantine and for the veterans and it's really appreciated by all the veterans and um we have like I said we have met new people made new friends um hey guest speakers you come in you can hear other people's stories so it's just been a really healthy thing for the community and it's very much appreciated by our veterans well I want to thank you for everything you've done I want to thank you for your service and uh I don't think all our veterans for our service but thank you for your played in this event for Constantine and for our community Ryan this morning you spoke at this event uh you spoke about your dad and and Roy played in your life and and we got your helicopter here behind us that you feel it's very important important that we honor our veterans on this day and that we keep talking about so can you share a little bit of why you think this day is important and why you feel so strongly about uh Veterans Day and honoring our veterans absolutely so I'm the son of a Vietnam veteran and I just I want that history to be uh kept moving forward to Future generations and I feel all veterans make a sacrifice uh to serve our country and that sacrifice deserves to be remembered forever um I feel like this is a great opportunity for um students to to come together with their uh veteran family of whether that's a grandparent or a parent and and maybe share some stories and communicate the history that they went through during their time in the service and so that that it's not forgotten that their service will live on forever absolutely I I thank you for your role this morning I thank you for the message that you shared the stories you there uh for everybody uh that participated this morning uh and and so the Constantine we have a traditional breakfast in the morning and then we have various ceremonies throughout the day we we have a ceremony at East Side as well uh in the morning where our young students uh celebrate our veterans and honor our veterans so it's something that we are uh very uh intentional about because we value uh that in our community and we want to just thank everybody uh for their service that served in our Armed Forces so thank you guys thank you for everything you've done and uh uh stay tuned for another Edition down the road of South flyby
